One for sorrow, two for joy

One for sorrow, two for joy is a series about magpies, an obsession with silver things and why we decide to keep believing in things we know no longer to be true.

Having grown up believing the folkloric myth of magpies stealing silver objects, upon finding out it is not true, the artist begins photographically collecting found silver objects as an act of resistance and defiance. This work represents an insistence on myth, wonder, and the emotional truths that remain, even after facts fall away.
