Kim da Motta is a Swiss-Brazilian transmedia artist based in Lucerne, Switzerland. Working across photography, video, installation and research-based practices, she investigates how images shape our understanding of reality, memory and identity, focusing on the fragile boundaries between fact and fiction, belief and knowledge.

Her work engages with surveillance technologies, artificial intelligence and digital environments, treating images as evidence, archives, datasets and narratives. Drawing from the visual languages of science, digital culture and gaming, she combines technological research with subjective, poetic and speculative approaches. Moving between documentation and fiction, she examines how images are trusted, circulated and used to produce knowledge, while questioning the role of technology in shaping perception, control and belief.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication & Camera Arts and a Master’s degree in Fine Arts (Critical Image Practices) & Art Teaching from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
